10 Tips to Living a Happier Life

I believe everyone wants true happiness in life. The reality is we put limitations on things in our lives and are our own worst enemy at times.
When we become clear about who we are and what we are capable of, life starts to get exciting. If you want more happiness in your life, then planning some of the strategies below will help you to start your happiness journey.
Here are my 10 Tips for Living a Happier Life.
- Manage stress in your life – getting a handle on your stress levels is important to have a balanced and happier life.
- Learn to let go of trying to control everything – some things are out of our control, such as the desire to try and control others or certain situations.
- Learn to let go of trying to please everyone – trying to please everyone can lead to you feeling more stressed, resentful, lonely, disappointed, and frustrated.
- Respect yourself and your own boundaries – setting clear personal boundaries helps you to establish “what is you” and “what is not you.” Setting boundaries also brings awareness to respecting other people’s boundaries.
- Accepting who you are and be comfortable with yourself – being at peace with yourself. Accepting who you are, your self-worth, feeling comfortable in your own skin, seeing your strengths and weaknesses, and embracing all of you no matter what!
- Have a positive Mindset – there is power in positive thoughts – starting the day with positive thoughts sets the tone for the rest of your day.
- Practice Gratitude & come from a place of Love – being grateful and coming from a place of love makes you happier and puts things into perspective – when you look for the good in people, and in situations, positive changes will occur in your life, insights will arise – you start focusing on the good and not the bad.
- Taking control of your own well-being – taking care of your body, getting enough sleep and exercise, eating healthy and staying hydrated.
- Learn to forgive and let go – a very important step – letting go of the past and focusing on the present moment.
- Find your passion and purpose in life – I believe we all have a path and purpose for being here on earth – identifying, and honoring that life purpose will give you more meaning and fulfillment.
People that are happy are not afraid to push their boundaries. By trying new things in life, it forces you to grow, and yes, it may seem scary to try something new but going beyond your comfort zone may surprise you and exceed your expectations.
I remember when I went on a 5-day personal development course and said “Yes” to fire-walking – it scared the living daylights out of me. Walking through the door on the way out to do fire-walking, I back treadled and said: “no, I just can’t do this.” My coach at the time was standing at the door and said one word to me “state” (meaning getting back in the zone or right mental state) that was enough to get me back to challenging myself and my comfort zone. I walked out the door and did what I had to do. Did I get through this experience? Absolutely, and it felt amazing to be able to achieve that in my life.
